Excerpts from an email exchange between Richard Williams and Mary Dahl regarding the meeting outcome:

"I would like to acknowledge the assistance of Cate Bradley and Randy Williams in getting the Nogales route on the maps. "

"The Nogales City Council passed a resolution last night to designate the trail through the City of Nogales...Manny Ruiz (County Supervisor for Nogales) Mary Dahl, Lilliam Hoff, Don Garate and I spoke for the resolution at the meeting and it passed without dessention.  Mary was intrumental in getting this through so smoothly and deserves a work of thanks from us all."

Mary Dahl, Richard Williams, Lillian Hoff, Don Garate meet with Nogales City Council for Trail location approval through the city.

What does this mean to us?

Project "Certification by the Centennial"

The Nogales Department of Planning & Development Director, Mary Dahl, has been working in conjunction with the NPS RTCA program and the ATCA to get trail on the ground through Santa Cruz County by the Arizona State Centennial in 2012.  This portion of the trail is important to us as we approach the Nogales Trailhead segment ribbon cutting ceremony in October and the 1904 Nogales Courthouse dedication event that puts us on the map with an official National Historic Trailhead.  This portion of the trail will be certified by NPS and does not require any private landowner easements.  The proposed path has been GPS'd, signage has been prepped and our own Lillian Hoff is head of the program plans for the 1904 Courthouse Trailhead dedication.  This is huge!

The information that will be presented at the council meeting will be posted as soon as the agenda has cleared.

STAY TUNED!
